Description
Crispy air-fried beef strips tossed in a sweet, spicy, and tangy chilli sauce with peppers, garlic, ginger, and fresh chilli—an easy, lighter twist on the classic takeaway favorite.
Ingredients
Beef & Stir-Fry
- 250g thin-cut minute steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, plus a drizzle
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- Thumb-sized piece of ginger, cut into matchsticks
- 1 red chilli, thinly sliced
- 1 red pepper, cut into chunks
- 4 spring onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)
- 4 tbsp rice wine vinegar or white wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
Marinade
- 1/2 tsp Chinese five-spice
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp caster sugar
Instructions
- Toss the sliced steak with the marinade ingredients and rest for 10 minutes.
- Coat the beef strips in cornflour, drizzle lightly with oil, and place in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 200°C (390°F) for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway, until crispy.
- Heat oil in a wok or pan, then stir-fry garlic, ginger, and chilli for 1 minute.
- Add the red pepper and white spring onion parts; cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Stir in vinegar, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, and ketchup; let it bubble until slightly thickened.
- Add the crispy beef and toss well to coat.
- Finish with the green spring onions and serve hot.
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—crispiness depends on airflow.
- Add more chilli for extra heat.
- Slice the beef very thinly for fast, even cooking.
- Re-crisp leftovers in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes.
