Description

Juicy hamburger patties baked in creamy mushroom gravy — this Amish Hamburger Steak Bake is the perfect comfort food for weeknights or Sunday dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, garlic powder, parsley, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown patties for 2–3 minutes on each side.
  4. Place browned patties in the baking dish. Top with sliced onions.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with Worcestershire sauce. Pour over patties.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until patties are cooked through and gravy is bubbling.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or pork for a twist.

  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the gravy.

  • Make ahead by assembling the dish and refrigerating until ready to bake.

  • Serve with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
