Juicy hamburger patties baked in creamy mushroom gravy — this Amish Hamburger Steak Bake is the perfect comfort food for weeknights or Sunday dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, garlic powder, parsley, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown patties for 2–3 minutes on each side.
- Place browned patties in the baking dish. Top with sliced onions.
- In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with Worcestershire sauce. Pour over patties.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until patties are cooked through and gravy is bubbling.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.
Notes
Use ground turkey or pork for a twist.
For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the gravy.
