Description

Soft, cinnamon-spiced Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts made in a waffle maker—no frying required! These warm, glazed waffle donuts are an easy fall breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

For the Waffle Donuts

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon table salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ½ tablespoon oil
  • 1 ½ cups shredded apples

For the Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle maker to medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch.
  3. Add the egg, milk, and oil. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Fold in the shredded apples until evenly distributed.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron. Spoon in batter and cook until golden and crisp around the edges.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to form a smooth glaze.
  7. Dip warm waffle donuts into the glaze or drizzle it over top.
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use crisp apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady for the best texture.
  • Don’t squeeze out the apple juice—it’s what keeps the donuts moist.
  • For extra crisp edges, cook 1–2 minutes longer.
  • Glaze while warm so it melts beautifully into the waffle pockets.
