A layered dessert combining moist banana bread, rich cheesecake, and cream cheese frosting, finished with walnuts for added texture and flavor.
Ingredients
Cheesecake Layer
- 16 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs + 1 egg white
Banana Bread Layer
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large or 3 small ripe bananas, mashed (about 1¼ cups)
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½–2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup miniature chocolate chips
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 3 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1–2 tablespoons sour cream
- ⅓ cup chopped walnuts (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and line a springform pan with parchment paper.
- Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, sour cream, vanilla, and flour. Mix gently. Add eggs and egg white one at a time. Set aside.
- Whisk oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, egg yolk, and vanilla. Stir in mashed bananas.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Fold into banana mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spread banana bread batter evenly in the pan. Carefully pour cheesecake batter over the top.
- Bake 60–70 minutes until mostly set. Turn off oven, crack door, and cool 1 hour.
- Chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Spread over chilled cheesecake and garnish with walnuts.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
- Avoid overmixing cheesecake batter to prevent cracks.
- Chill overnight for clean slices.
- Frost just before serving for freshest texture.
