Description

Elegant, easy, and irresistibly delicious! These Banana Tartlets with Chocolate Sauce feature a buttery crust, creamy banana filling, and rich chocolate drizzle — perfect for parties or cozy desserts at home.

Ingredients

For the Tart Shells:

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 12 tablespoons cold water

For the Banana Filling:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the Chocolate Sauce:

  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Make the Tart Shells:

  • Mix flour and sugar in a bowl. Rub in the cold butter until crumbly.
  • Add egg yolk and cold water until dough forms. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out, cut circles, and press into tartlet pans.
  • Prick with a fork and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until golden. Cool completely.

Prepare the Banana Filling:

  • Whisk milk, egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and mix in mashed bananas, butter, and vanilla.
  • Cool slightly before filling tart shells.

Make the Chocolate Sauce:

  • Heat cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate.
  • Stir until smooth, then mix in butter and vanilla.

Assemble:

  • Spoon banana filling into tart shells.
  • Drizzle chocolate sauce over each tartlet.
  • Chill briefly before serving or enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for a naturally sweet, rich filling.
  • Chill the dough before rolling for a flaky crust.
  • Brush baked tart shells with melted chocolate to prevent sogginess.
  • For extra elegance, top with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, or banana slices.
  • Make the tart shells ahead and store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
