Ingredients
- 1 homemade or store-bought pie crust
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyère, cheddar, or mix)
- 6 strips cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
- ½ cup diced ham (optional)
- ½ cup sautéed spinach (excess water squeezed out)
- ½ cup diced onion, caramelized
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out pie crust, press into a 9-inch dish, trim excess, and prick bottom with a fork.
- Blind bake crust for 8 minutes, then remove from oven.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Stir in cheese, bacon, ham, spinach, and caramelized onion.
- Pour mixture into pre-baked crust.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until set in the center and lightly golden.
- Cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Blind-bake the crust to avoid sogginess.
- Squeeze water out of spinach (or mushrooms) before adding.
- Let quiche rest 5–10 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
