Description

Blackberry dumplings are a delightful, comforting dessert that brings the taste of summer berries to your table year-round.


Ingredients

  • 1 quart fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp lemon extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ⅔ cup milk


Instructions

  1. Combine berries, water, sugar, and salt; simmer 5–7 min; stir in lemon extract.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, nutmeg; add milk until dough forms.
  3. Pour sauce into baking dish; drop dumplings over sauce.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 25–30 min until golden.
  5. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

  • Spoon dumplings evenly for uniform baking.
  • Add extra spices to the sauce for depth of flavor.
