This Caprese Sandwich combines fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, arugula, and a creamy basil sauce inside a crusty baguette. It’s a quick, flavorful meal perfect for lunch or entertaining.
Ingredients
- 1 baguette (16 ounces), sliced
- 1 tablespoon thick balsamic vinegar or glaze
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 ½ cups baby arugula
- 1 mozzarella ball (8 ounces), sliced
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- Flaky sea salt
Creamy Basil Sauce:
- 1 small or ½ medium clove garlic
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup fresh basil
- ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Blend garlic, mayonnaise, basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Slice and optionally toast baguette.
- Drizzle olive oil inside bread.
- Spread basil sauce generously.
- Layer mozzarella, then tomatoes.
- Season tomatoes with salt and drizzle balsamic.
- Add arugula and close sandwich.
- Slice and serve.
