This easy Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole is the ultimate comfort food! Juicy beef, melty cheese, and crispy fries baked into one family-friendly dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 bag (20 oz) frozen French fries
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- Optional toppings: bacon bits, sliced pickles, green onions, jalapeños
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
- Spread beef mixture evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
- Arrange frozen French fries in a single layer on top of the beef mixture.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until fries are golden and crispy.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
- Serve hot with your favorite burger toppings like pickles or bacon.
Notes
- For crispier fries, bake them for 10 minutes before adding to the casserole.
- Swap ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Add a Tex-Mex twist by using taco seasoning and salsa instead of ketchup and mustard.
- Make it ahead: Assemble the casserole (without fries), refrigerate up to 24 hours, then bake with fresh fries on top.
