Description

Juicy baked beef patties filled with melty cheese and topped with more cheese. An easy, crowd-pleasing dish perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.


Ingredients

Patty mixture:

  • 680 g beef mince (20% fat)
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 60 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp Italian herb blend
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For finishing:

  • 170 g cheese (mozzarella or cheddar), cubed
  • 120 g grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking tray.
  2. Combine all patty ingredients in a bowl and mix gently.
  3. Divide into 10–12 portions. Flatten each, add a cheese cube in the center, and seal.
  4. Shape into patties and place on tray.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 20–25 mins.
  6. Sprinkle grated cheese on top in the last 5 mins of baking.
  7. Garnish with herbs and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use cheese that melts well, like mozzarella or cheddar.
  • Don’t overmix the beef to keep patties tender.
  • Patties freeze well—make extra for later!
