Description
A festive, pull-apart appetizer made with pizza dough, stuffed with melty mozzarella, and brushed with herby garlic butter. Perfect for holiday entertaining and served with your favorite marinara or pesto.
Ingredients
- 13 ounces refrigerated pizza dough
- 6 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into 32 pieces
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 jar marinara or pesto sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut dough into 32 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap around a piece of mozzarella to form a sealed ball.
- Arrange dough balls seam-side down into a tree shape on the baking sheet.
- Whisk egg with water and brush over dough. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden.
- Mix melted butter with half the parmesan, parsley, rosemary, basil, and garlic. Brush over hot bread.
- Sprinkle with remaining parmesan and serve with marinara or pesto.

- Seal dough tightly to prevent cheese from leaking.
- Use store-bought or homemade pizza dough.
- Swap mozzarella for your favorite melting cheese.
- For a vegan version, use plant-based dough, cheese, and skip the egg wash.
