Description

A festive, pull-apart appetizer made with pizza dough, stuffed with melty mozzarella, and brushed with herby garlic butter. Perfect for holiday entertaining and served with your favorite marinara or pesto.

Ingredients

  • 13 ounces refrigerated pizza dough
  • 6 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into 32 pieces
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • ½ tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • ½ tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 jar marinara or pesto sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut dough into 32 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap around a piece of mozzarella to form a sealed ball.
  3. Arrange dough balls seam-side down into a tree shape on the baking sheet.
  4. Whisk egg with water and brush over dough. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden.
  5. Mix melted butter with half the parmesan, parsley, rosemary, basil, and garlic. Brush over hot bread.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan and serve with marinara or pesto.

Notes

  • Seal dough tightly to prevent cheese from leaking.
  • Use store-bought or homemade pizza dough.
  • Swap mozzarella for your favorite melting cheese.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based dough, cheese, and skip the egg wash.
