Description

Soft, chewy, and coated in a warm cinnamon-sugar blend, these Cinnamon Sugar Cookies are easy to make and perfect for any occasion. A cozy treat ready in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until dough forms.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then coat in cinnamon sugar.
  6. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if your kitchen is warm—this prevents spreading.
  • Use half granulated sugar and half brown sugar for a richer, softer cookie.
  • For extra spice, add ½ tsp cinnamon to the dough itself.
  • Store cookies with a slice of bread in the container to keep them soft.
  • Freeze cookie dough balls for up to 3 months—bake straight from frozen.
