Description
Smooth, creamy Coffee Frosting made with butter, shortening, and instant coffee granules. Perfect for spreading, piping, or topping cakes, cupcakes, and other baked treats.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
- ½ cup (118ml) vegetable shortening (or substitute with butter)
- 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules dissolved in 2 tablespoons milk
- Additional 1-2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
- 2-4 cups (227-454g) powdered sugar
Instructions
- Dissolve 2 teaspoons instant coffee in 2 tablespoons warm milk.
- Beat butter and shortening in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add coffee mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
- Add powdered sugar gradually, starting with 2 cups, mixing on low speed.
- Taste and add extra dissolved coffee if desired.
- Beat on medium-high for 2–3 minutes until frosting is silky and creamy.
- Use immediately or store for later.
Notes
- Adjust powdered sugar for desired sweetness and thickness.
- Chill frosting for firmer consistency if needed for piping.
- Re-whip after refrigeration for perfect texture.
