Description

Smooth, creamy Coffee Frosting made with butter, shortening, and instant coffee granules. Perfect for spreading, piping, or topping cakes, cupcakes, and other baked treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
  • ½ cup (118ml) vegetable shortening (or substitute with butter)
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules dissolved in 2 tablespoons milk
  • Additional 1-2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 2-4 cups (227-454g) powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Dissolve 2 teaspoons instant coffee in 2 tablespoons warm milk.
  2. Beat butter and shortening in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add coffee mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Add powdered sugar gradually, starting with 2 cups, mixing on low speed.
  5. Taste and add extra dissolved coffee if desired.
  6. Beat on medium-high for 2–3 minutes until frosting is silky and creamy.
  7. Use immediately or store for later.

Notes

  • Adjust powdered sugar for desired sweetness and thickness.
  • Chill frosting for firmer consistency if needed for piping.
  • Re-whip after refrigeration for perfect texture.
