Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Optional Toppings:
- Chocolate or caramel drizzle
- Whipped cream
- Fresh berries
- Cinnamon sugar
- Ice cream
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, water, and vanilla extract. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet until smooth.
- Heat the Oil: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Form the Funnel Cakes: Pour the batter into a funnel or squeeze bottle. Swirl the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion to create a lacy pattern.
- Fry Until Golden: Cook each side for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Add Toppings: Dust with powdered sugar or your favorite toppings. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure your oil stays hot (around 375°F) for crisp results.
- Avoid overmixing the batter — this keeps the cakes light and fluffy.
- If you don’t have a funnel, use a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
- Serve immediately after frying for the best texture.
- Add cocoa powder or cinnamon for fun flavor variations!
