Description

Crispy, golden, and sweet — these homemade County Fair Funnel Cakes bring the taste of the fair right to your kitchen. Easy to make with simple ingredients and ready in minutes!

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Optional Toppings:

  • Chocolate or caramel drizzle
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh berries
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Ice cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, water, and vanilla extract. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet until smooth.
  2. Heat the Oil: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Form the Funnel Cakes: Pour the batter into a funnel or squeeze bottle. Swirl the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion to create a lacy pattern.
  4. Fry Until Golden: Cook each side for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Add Toppings: Dust with powdered sugar or your favorite toppings. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure your oil stays hot (around 375°F) for crisp results.
  • Avoid overmixing the batter — this keeps the cakes light and fluffy.
  • If you don’t have a funnel, use a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
  • Serve immediately after frying for the best texture.
  • Add cocoa powder or cinnamon for fun flavor variations!
