Description

A classic, hearty lasagna layered with seasoned ground beef, creamy ricotta, melty mozzarella, and oven-ready noodles for a simple, comforting homemade meal.

Ingredients

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Cheese Layer

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Other

  • 1 box (12 oz) oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10–12 minutes.
  3. Mix ricotta and egg in a bowl.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of sauce in a baking dish.
  5. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, Parmesan, and sauce. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Simmer sauce until thick to prevent watery layers.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or fresh basil for variation.
  • For a richer top, use a mix of mozzarella and provolone.
  • Allow resting time so layers slice cleanly.
