Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds (680 g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- ½ yellow onion, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup (120 g) salsa
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes. Stir in garlic.
- Add cumin, oregano, chili powder, and salt. Mix to coat the aromatics.
- Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and pour salsa over the top.
- Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 18–22 minutes, or until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove chicken and shred with two forks. Return to the skillet and toss with the sauce.
- Simmer 3–5 minutes more to absorb flavors. Serve in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.
