Description

Tender chicken breasts smothered in a bold barbecue ranch sauce, topped with melted cheddar cheese and crispy fried onions for a saucy, satisfying baked dinner.

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs for extra juiciness)

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together the barbecue sauce and ranch dressing until combined.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken, coating each piece well.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until the chicken is nearly cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Scatter the crispy fried onions over the cheese layer.
  8. Return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the onions are golden.
  9. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for more consistent cooking.
  • Add the fried onions in the last few minutes only so they stay crispy.
