Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- About 36 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, milk, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth.
- Gradually stir in the flour mixture until combined.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes if it feels sticky—this helps the cookies hold their shape.
- Use room-temperature butter for smooth mixing.
- If you want a stronger peanut flavor, substitute half of the butter with extra peanut butter.
- For festive flair, roll dough balls in colored sugar or sprinkles before baking.
- Store cookies in a single layer until chocolate sets to prevent smudging.
