Description
Deeply chocolatey, fudgy cookies with crackly tops and a rich cocoa flavor, finished with a sprinkle of coarse salt for the perfect sweet-and-salty bite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips
- Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line 2 large cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the egg, vanilla, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Scoop 15 cookies, spacing them three inches apart across 2-3 cookie sheets.
- Bake for 12-13 minutes, until barely set.
- Sprinkle with coarse salt immediately after baking.
- Let cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.
Notes
- Pull the cookies out while they still look slightly underbaked for the fudgiest texture.
- Sprinkle the salt on right out of the oven so it sticks to the warm cookies.
