Description

Tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a savory sauce come together in this Slow Cooker Broccoli Beef recipe. An easy, better-than-takeout meal perfect for busy weeknights!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (or honey)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch, mixed with 3 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, sliced green onions, red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Sauce – In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  2. Add Beef – Place sliced beef in the slow cooker and pour sauce over it. Stir to coat.
  3. Cook – Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours, or high for 2–3 hours, until beef is tender.
  4. Thicken Sauce – Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 15–20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add Broccoli – Stir in steamed broccoli (or add fresh broccoli in the last 30 minutes of cooking).
  6. Serve – Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for the most tender texture.
  • Don’t overcook broccoli—add it at the end to keep it crisp and vibrant.
  • Make it spicy by adding chili paste or red pepper flakes.
  • For meal prep, store beef and broccoli separately to maintain texture.
  • Gluten-free option: Swap soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
