Description

Warm, gooey, and bursting with cinnamon-sugar flavor, this Snickerdoodle Cobbler is a cozy dessert that magically forms its own caramel sauce as it bakes. Easy to make and even easier to love

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Hot Water Layer:

  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • Caramel drizzle for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the batter:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.
  3. Make the topping:
In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in your baking dish.
  4. Add the hot water:
Carefully pour boiling water over the top of the mixture—do not stir. It will look unusual, but the water helps form the caramel sauce during baking.
  5. Bake:
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp, and the sauce is bubbling underneath.
  6. Cool and serve:
Allow the cobbler to rest for about 10 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Don’t skip the hot water step: It creates the gooey sauce layer at the bottom.
  • Use real butter: It gives the cobbler its rich, classic flavor.
  • Serve warm: The cobbler tastes best straight from the oven with a scoop of ice cream.
  • Add-ins: Try apples, nuts, or chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.
  • Double the recipe: Perfect for a 9×13-inch pan when serving a crowd.
