Ingredients

For the Garlic Bread Bowls

  • 6 crusty white rolls
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, mashed into a paste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

For the Meat Sauce

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 cups tomato passata
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Assembly

  • 8 ounces dry spaghetti
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in ground beef and cook until fully browned.
  4. Mix in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, then pour in red wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Add tomato passata, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and oregano. Reduce heat and simmer for 20–25 minutes.
  6. Stir in fresh basil and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  10. Cut tops off rolls and hollow centers, leaving a sturdy shell. Brush inside with garlic butter.
  11. Bake bread bowls for 8–10 minutes until lightly toasted.
  12. Fill each bowl with spaghetti, spoon over meat sauce, and top with mozzarella.
  13. Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve warm.
