Ingredients
Main Layers:
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
- 1 cup salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
Spider Web Topping:
- 1 cup sour cream (in piping bag or zip-top bag)
- Black olives for spider garnish (optional)
For Serving:
- Tortilla chips
Instructions
- Cook the Meat – In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease, stir in taco seasoning with a splash of water, and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Layer the Base – Spread refried beans evenly into a round dish or pie dish.
- Add Meat Layer – Spread seasoned beef over the beans.
- Spread Salsa – Evenly layer salsa on top of the meat.
- Add Cheese – Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over salsa.
- Top with Veggies – Scatter chopped tomatoes, bell peppers, and black olives.
- Create Spider Web – Pipe sour cream in circles on top. Use a toothpick to drag lines outward from the center, forming a web.
- Decorate – Place black olive “spider” in the middle (optional).
- Serve – Pair with tortilla chips and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter web design.
- For extra spice, add jalapeños or use hot salsa.
- Prep ahead by assembling all layers except the spider web; refrigerate and decorate before serving.
- Use a glass dish so guests can see the colorful layers from the side.
