Description

Juicy pan-seared steak topped with tender shrimp in a rich garlic Parmesan cream sauce—this Steak and Creamy Shrimp recipe is the ultimate surf-and-turf dinner for two!

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (8 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

For the Creamy Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steak: Pat steaks dry, season with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Cook 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to preferred doneness. Add butter and thyme, basting steak in the melted butter. Remove from pan, cover, and rest.
  2. Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add garlic, sauté until fragrant. Toss in shrimp with paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: Pour cream into skillet and simmer. Stir in Parmesan until sauce thickens. Season to taste.
  4. Combine: Return shrimp to skillet, coating with sauce. Serve with steak, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook steak: Use a meat thermometer—130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
  • Shrimp cooks fast: Just until pink and opaque, or it becomes rubbery.
  • Sauce too thick? Add a splash of chicken broth or cream.
  • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne.
  • Perfect sides: Garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, or roasted veggies.
