Description
Juicy pan-seared steak topped with tender shrimp in a rich garlic Parmesan cream sauce—this Steak and Creamy Shrimp recipe is the ultimate surf-and-turf dinner for two!
Ingredients
For the Steak:
- 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (8 oz each)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
For the Creamy Shrimp:
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the steak: Pat steaks dry, season with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Cook 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to preferred doneness. Add butter and thyme, basting steak in the melted butter. Remove from pan, cover, and rest.
- Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add garlic, sauté until fragrant. Toss in shrimp with paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
- Make the sauce: Pour cream into skillet and simmer. Stir in Parmesan until sauce thickens. Season to taste.
- Combine: Return shrimp to skillet, coating with sauce. Serve with steak, garnished with parsley.
Notes
- Don’t overcook steak: Use a meat thermometer—130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- Shrimp cooks fast: Just until pink and opaque, or it becomes rubbery.
- Sauce too thick? Add a splash of chicken broth or cream.
- Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne.
- Perfect sides: Garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, or roasted veggies.
