Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir well until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Do not overmix.
- Optional: Fold in nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before serving or frosting.

- Use extra ripe bananas with brown spots for the best flavor and moisture.
- Don’t overmix the batter — this ensures a soft, fluffy texture.
- Want a layered cake? Divide the batter into two round pans and reduce baking time slightly.
