Description

Sweet, crunchy, and chocolatey! These Turtle Candies are the ultimate homemade treat—perfect for the holidays or gifting.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves (about 96 pieces)
  • 11 oz bag soft caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Arrange pecans – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place pecan halves in clusters of 4 (shaped like turtle legs + head).
  2. Melt caramel – In a microwave-safe bowl, melt caramels with heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add caramel – Spoon 1 teaspoon of caramel onto the center of each pecan cluster. Let cool slightly.
  4. Melt chocolate – Melt chocolate chips (with optional coconut oil) in the microwave or double boiler until smooth.
  5. Top with chocolate – Spoon chocolate over caramel, spreading slightly to cover.
  6. Optional garnish – Sprinkle with flaky sea salt or drizzle with melted white chocolate.
  7. Set & serve – Let candies set at room temperature, or refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Toast pecans lightly in the oven (350°F for 5–7 minutes) for enhanced flavor.
  • Use good-quality chocolate for the best results.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract or bourbon to the caramel.
  • Want variety? Try almonds, cashews, or walnuts instead of pecans.
  • Store candies in layers with parchment between them to prevent sticking.
