Description

Soft, chewy, and bursting with flavor—these Ube Crinkle Cookies are the perfect sweet treat with a gorgeous purple hue. Easy to make and ideal for any occasion!


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp ube extract (or flavoring)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A few drops of purple food coloring (optional, for vibrant color)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for coating)


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in ube extract, vanilla, and optional food coloring.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined into a smooth dough.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop dough into small balls, roll them in powdered sugar until fully coated, and place them on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops are crackled and the centers are soft.
  9. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or store for later.

  • Chill the dough—this step is essential for perfect crinkles.
  • Don’t overbake—cookies should be soft in the center.
  • For richer flavor, replace part of the butter with ube halaya (purple yam jam).
